Worldly Selling
Emily Beutler, 29, discovered her knack for sales as a student at the University of Montana. Her part-time job was selling advertising space in coupon books, and she ranked number one out of 300 salespeople. Still, when she decided to join her family’s real estate brokerage, her parents discouraged her. They wanted their children to follow their passion. For Beutler, that was exploring the world outside of their small city. But once they saw she was serious about the business, they became her biggest supporters. “It’s been the best decision I’ve made,” says Beutler, who chairs her association’s RPAC committee. “I’ve always had a really competitive nature, whether in sports or grades.” Juggling her wanderlust with her winning business, she’s closed sales remotely from places as far away as South Africa and Bali. Her most recent trip: a yoga and surfing retreat in Ecuador.
